Over the next few weeks, there will be talks of trade rumors involving the Flyers crowded blue line. On Wednesday, one defenseman solidified his place with the Flyers.
Nick Schultz signed a two-year extension with the Flyers worth $4.5 million.
Schultz was originally signed to be the team's seventh defenseman this season, but injuries to several members of the blue line – most notably Kimmo Timonen and Braydon Coburn, allowed Schultz to become a regular member of the Flyers lineup.
Schultz has played in 55 of the Flyers 57 games this season, scoring two goals and adding 11 assists. Schultz is also a plus-6 this season.
