The Flyers defensive core will be keeping one veteran member around a little longer. Kimmo Timonen, the veteran defenseman and assistant captain of the team, has agreed to a one-year, $6 million extension with the Flyers.

Timonen, 37, has one goal and four assists on the season so far for a total of five points. He is plus-two on the season and a career plus-32.

Timonen is also incredibly durable, playing in at least 72 games in each season since 1999-00. Despite putting his health at risk by blocking shots and standing in the line of fire, he is one of the more reliable point men the Flyers have and have had in recent memory.
