The Flyers don't open the preseason schedule until Sept. 17 and don't debut in the area until a Sept. 20 game in Allentown at PPL Center. But your first chance to catch the future of the Flyers comes a week earlier.
The Flyers will host the New York Islanders in a rookie game on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. at Wells Fargo Center. Tickets for the game will be free and become available on the Flyers official website at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Parking at Wells Fargo Center will also be free.
The game will pit the Flyers rookies against the Islanders rookies, a tradition that has been consistently held over the past few years. With the exception of 2015 and 2012, the Flyers rookies have participated in a rookie game. Last year, the Flyers played to a 4-0 win over the Islanders rookies in East Meadow, NY.
In the previous seven rookie games dating back to 2007, the Flyers had faced the Washington Capitals rookies.
