Ron Hextall trimmed two more bubble players from the Flyers roster on Wednesday, as Colin McDonald and Chris Porter were placed on waivers.
Both players are expected to clear waivers, and be assigned to the American League's Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
McDonald, who turns 31 today, registered no points and three shots in two preseason games. Porter, also 31, recorded a goal and an assist in two games. He recently practiced alongside Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek on the top line, as Michael Raffl left Monday's game against the New York Rangers with an upper-body injury.
The final roster now stands at 24, and Hextall has one more cut to make. For now, the focus will be if he decides to carry eight defensemen or 13 forwards.
The moves were made in advance of Wednesday's preseason game against New Jersey — the Orange and Black's penultimate game of the 2015-16 preseason. As always, be sure to follow along on Twitter @Flyerdelphia for in-game updates.
