I signed up for a full season ticket plan for the Phillies back in December, 2008. I always went to about 40 games a year at Citizens Bank Park and used to be able to sit in different sections from time to time because tickets were readily available. Then, the Phillies won the World Series and I could not get playoff tickets. That was when I decided I would never have to miss a playoff series again.
After I got my full season plan for the 2009 season, I attempted to either upgrade or get more seats since I wanted to go to games with more than one other person and only had two at maximum. The response was always the same: the Phillies simply had no place for me to get more seats or upgrade my seats. In the offseason they would even write me and say that they had nothing for me, even though I had requested an upgrade before. Things have changed.
Yesterday, the Phillies began advertising that season tickets were available. A click on the link on the Phillies' home page shows that almost all sections have full-season ticket plans available:
Some benefits of the supply once again taking over the demand?
- Ease of buying group games. They too are for sale. Some of the perks will be back with those.
- Stub Hub is still there, but the tickets will be cheaper. In fact, that Tuesday night game in 36-degree April against the Padres? You may be able to see a game pretty cheap.
- Giveaways figure to be better. They may need to draw people to the park again.
The diehard fans will always go. As the team retools as the 2008 heroes move on there may be a bit of a drop off. But the Phillies got it right with Citizens Bank Park, and it remains a good time.
