PHILADELPHIA — Just over 200 days have passed since former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick announced his retirement from the National Football League after 13 seasons.
This offseason, the 37-year-old, Virginia native hinted his interest in becoming a coach in the league, telling ESPN's Adam Schefter he would "definitely love to help work with young quarterbacks and develop them and still compete."
"I think my heart is really into teaching the game of football," Vick said.
The four-time Pro Bowl quarterback finally got his chance to coach this training camp under fellow former head coach of his at Philadelphia, Andy Reid. Vick spent this summer as a quarterback coaching intern for the Kansas City Chiefs as Reid prepared for his fifth season donning the red colors.
With training camp nearing an end, Vick's future with the Chiefs became unclear. Ultimately, Vick will still be able to provide his knowledge of the game this season, but not on the field as a coach, but rather in-studio as an analyst.
Fox Sports announced on Friday that Vick will serve this season as a "FOX NFL Kickoff" studio analyst, the precursor show to Fox NFL Sunday with Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Michael Strahan, Jimmy Johnson and others. Vick will also regularly appear on Fox Sports 1 studio shows, according to USA Today.

As they did with former major league slugger Alex Rodriguez, Fox executives see upside in Vick's potential as a broadcaster. … Vick already made news on one of FS1's studio shows, Speak For Yourself, in July when he said that free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick should “cut his hair” and “just go clean-cut."
In five seasons with the Eagles from 2009-2013, Vick went 20-20 with 57 passing touchdowns on 9,984 yards and 1,300 attempts.
