Ever since the Philadelphia Flyers hired Dave Hakstol, it was rumored the Lehigh Valley Phantoms may be in the market for a new head coach. Those rumors are now true but not for the reason everyone thought as Terry Murray will join Dan Bylsma on the bench for the Buffalo Sabres.
Murray was a prime candidate to take one of the assistant coach positions on Hakstol's staff this season. He has both AHL and NHL coaching experience and would have been a nice fit to help the rookie head coach transition to NHL level.
Murray is Buffalo general manager Tim Murray's uncle.
