According to Sportsnet.ca baseball columnist Shi Davidi, former Philadelphia Phillies right hander Phillippe Aumont has signed to a minor league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Aumont, 26, was released by the Phillies a month ago today, June 24, after allowing six runs on five hits and seven walks in a June 19 start against the St. Louis Cardinals.

He was originally acquired by the Phillies in December of 2009, along with reliever J.C. Ramirez and minor-league outfielder Tyson Gillies, in the blockbuster trade which sent Cy Young Award winning southpaw Cliff Lee to the Seattle Mariners.

Aumont recently partook in the 2015 Pan American Games, which were held in Toronto, Canada. Facing 47 batters in the tournament, he allowed just six hits in 13.0 shutout innings, as his team and native country won gold.

Over 46 appearances as a Phillie, Aumont posted a 1-6 record with a 6.80 ERA and a 1.992 WHIP ratio. He, like Gillies and Ramirez who are no longer with the organization, were a disappointment and did not live up to their believed potential when acquired nearly six years ago.
