We knew even upon his dismissal that the Phillies offered former Phillies manager Charlie Manuel a job; we were only left to figure out what job that might be.   Many of us assumed he would be in an advisory role to General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr.   It appears now that we were wrong.  Manuel appeared today on MLB Network Radio's "Inside Pitch" with today's fill-in hosts Jeff Joyce and Brad Lidge, and revealed the job that the Phillies have in mind for him.

Manuel said that they would like him to do "PR" work for the club and "work with some hitters" at the prospect level.   While the Phillies appear eager to tap into Manuel's hitting expertise and keep him in the organization, Manuel still wants to manage.   Whether there is a fit out there for Manuel remains to be seen, but it appears he will seek out those options before deciding whether or not to accept the offer.
