I wanted to take a moment from my impending deportation from Chile to address Freddy Galvis' walk-off celebration. He kicks butts. He kicks them rather hard. I went back and reviewed the Phillies' walk off wins this year and Freddy kicks the man with the walk off hit right square in the butt every time. Let's review…
4/6/13: Kevin Fradsen hits a bases clearing double to walk off against the Royals. It took awhile, but Freddy hits him with the Galvis Kick.
5/19/13: Erik Kratz and Galvis go back to back off of Aroldis Chapman to win the game against the Reds. To the best of my knowledge no one kicked Freddy's butt.
6/4/13: John Mayberry Jr. hits a home run to tie the game in the 10th and hits a walk off grand slam in the 11th. This was also the most devestating Galvis Kick of them all. If you watch the video, you can see JMJ take at least 5 Galvis Kicks.
6/17/13: Domonic Brown hits a walk off single as the Phillies beat the Natinals (sic) 5-4. Perhaps the sneakiest Galvis Kick of the bunch.
6/22/13: Kevin Fradsen saves the day again as he rescues the bullpen from being publicly executed. His reward? A J-Roll crotch chop and Galvis Kick.
It looks like this tradition is here to stay. To go along with the shaving cream pie to the face, a walk off winner takes quite the beating. Next time you do something exceptional, look out behind you as a Galvis Kick could be coming your way.
