This week's Future Flyers Report offers an update on prospects in the CHL playoffs, as well as games played by both farm clubs. See how eventual Flyers have fared after the jump.
Juniors:
Two Flyers prospects in the QMJHL have advanced in President Cup action. Samuel Morin and the Rimouski Océanic will face Gatineau, while Nicolas Aubé-Kubel and his Val-d'Or Foreurs will face the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.
Aubé-Kubel is tied for the Foreurs' team lead in points, with 10 (four goals, six assists) in six playoff games. Morin has a goal and four points in four games played, while Danick Martel finishes his playoff campaign with four goals and seven points in six playoff games. Martel and his Blainville-Boisbriand Armada were eliminated in six games at the hands of the Olympiques.
Over in the WHL tournament, Travis Sanheim, Radel Fazleev and the Calgary Hitmen polished off Kootenay in a seven-game series, and will advance to the second round against Medicine Hat. Fazleev has three goals and nine points so far, while Sanheim has two goals and eight points.
Tyrell Goulbourne and the Kelowna Rockets also advance to the second round, where they will face Victoria. Goulbourne had just one assist in the Rockets' four-game sweep of Tri-City, and missed time with an upper-body injury — which he is expected to make his return from in the second round.
American League:
The Phantoms were formally eliminated from the playoffs this week, as they were shut out 3-0 by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday — the third time this season they failed to score against the Baby Pens. Their streak of missing the playoffs has now reached its sixth-consecutive season.
This weekend, they'll play host to Norfolk for a pair of games on Friday (a 2-1 shootout win) and Saturday. Their record stands at 31-32-6-1 with 69 points, heading into the season's final week.
ECHL:
The Reading Royals played just one game this week, falling 2-1 to Wheeling. Olivier Labelle scored his 30th goal of the season, reaching the 30-goal plateau for the first time in his six-season career.
The Royals (44-20-4-2) will close their regular season out this weekend, when they host Indy for a pair of Santander Arena games on Friday (a 3-2 loss) and Saturday. Check back with Tuesday's Future Flyers Report for what to expect in their first-round playoff series.
