Future Flyers Report: Sanheim records 4 assists

In this weekend's Future Flyers Report, we have a high-scoring weekend for 2014's first-round pick, as well as split games between affiliates in Allentown and Reading. Check how the Flyers of the future performed after the jump.

Juniors:

Travis Sanheim and Radel Fazleev were victorious in two games, as their Calgary Hitmen beat Spokane 4-3 on Friday and Tri-City 7-2 on Saturday. Sanheim assisted once against the Chiefs and thrice against the Americans, while Fazleev added one assist in the win over the Americans.

As a result, Sanheim's 44 assists lead the Hitmen, while his 55 points are third-most on the team.

Samuel Morin returned to the lineup following his two-game suspension, but his Rimouski Océanic fell twice this weekend, losing 4-3 to Drummondville on Friday and 2-1 to Gatineau on Saturday. Morin was held without a point in each game, but finished with a plus-1 rating against the Voltigeurs.

Nicolas Aubé-Kubel reached the 30-goal mark for the first time in his junior career Saturday, as his Val-d'Or Foreurs cruised to a 6-0 rout of Quebec.

American League:

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms dropped a pair of weekend games, losing 5-1 to Providence on Friday and 5-4 in overtime to Hartford on Saturday. Petr Straka scored their only goal on Friday, with Nick Cousins assisting. Anthony Stolarz allowed four goals on 26 shots before yielding to Martin Ouellette towards the end of the second period, who allowed one goal on six shots for the rest of the game.

Cousins scored on Saturday as part of a two-point night, while Zack Stortini scored twice and Jason Akeson found the back of the net. Terry Murray pulled his goalie yet again, as he yanked Ouellette following the third Wolf Pack goal midway through the second period. Ouellette made just four saves on seven shots, while Stolarz saved 14 of 16 pucks the rest of the way.

The Phantoms (24-22-6-1) still sit third in the East Division with 55 points, 11 points behind second-place Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. They sit seven points behind the Eastern Conference's final playoff spot, held by the Bruins (stop me if you heard this one before).

ECHL:

The Reading Royals hit the road this weekend, going 1-1 against Kalamazoo and Cincinnati. David Marshall scored the lone goal — his 17th of the season — in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Wings, while Connor Knapp saved 25 of 27 pucks.

Marshall also scored in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Cyclones, and added two assists to boot. Olivier Labelle, Kevin Walrod and Adam Hughesman each scored as well, with Labelle also registering a three-point night. Kenny Reiter made 34 saves on 35 shots.

Coach Larry Courville's squad still sits atop first place in the East Division and second in the Eastern Conference, with a 35-14-2-1 record and 73 points.
