The Phillies went for the four-game series sweep this afternoon against the Brew Crew, and nearly got it. But, for once, Vance Worley didn't have it all.

The Brewers took an early lead in the second inning when Johnathan Lucroy grounded out to score Rickie Weeks from third. Behold, the first lead that the Brewers had all series.

In the top of the sixth, Shane Victorino and Ryan Howard both launched solo shots to make it a 2-1 game. It was Shane's 16th of the season, and Ryan's 33rd of the season.

Unfortunately, Nyjer Morgan A.K.A. "Tony Plush" doubled to score Corey Hart in the sixth, tying up the game. Following that, Ryan Braun singled to score Morgan/Plush, giving the Brewers a 3-2 lead.

That's when Michael Schwimer came in for Vance Worley, striking out Prince Fielder. Vance pitched 6 and 2/3, allowing three earned runs on eight hits, walking one and striking out seven.

David Herndon pitched a scoreless eighth inning, leaving it to the Phillies offense to help sweep the Brew Crew. With John Axford in, Raul Ibanez was awarded the golden sombrero, striking out four times today. John Bowker popped-out with two men on and two outs to end the game.

Good news, the Cardinals defeated the Braves, lowering the Phillies' magic number to clinch the division down to six games.

The Phils will travel to Houston for a three-game series against the Astros. Roy Oswalt, a former Astro, will take the mound against former Phillie Brett Myers tomorrow night.
