Game 8 Preview: Buchanan looks to bounce back as Phils face Harvey

With the exception of Cole Hamels Opening Day start and David Buchanan's first start last Thursday, the Phillies (3-4) have received solid results from their starting pitchers. Buchanan gets a chance to redeem himself from his struggles on Tuesday as the Phillies continue a series in New York.

The Mets (4-3) counter with one of baseball's rising stars on the mound. With the Phillies coming off a 2-0 shutout loss on Monday, their second in seven games this season, this game doesn't bode well on paper. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.

Buchanan started well in his first start before running into trouble in the third. Six runs scored in the inning that derailed his first start of the season and the Phillies were never able to recover. Buchanan had one of the more successful springs among members of the rotation and will looking to bounce back on Tuesday.

Pitching phenom Matt Harvey makes his first start against the Phillies in over a year after missing the 2014 season following Tommy John surgery. He opened the season allowing four hits in six shutout innings in a win over the Nationals, walking one and striking out nine. In his last full season, Harvey went 9-5 with a 2.27 ERA. In five career starts against the Phillies, Harvey is 4-0 with a 1.08 ERA.

The Phillies are making an interesting switch to the lineup, as Odubel Herrera bats lead-off for the first time this season and Ben Revere moves to the eighth spot. The rest of the lineup, including the struggling Chase Utley and Ryan Howard, remains the same against Harvey.

The Mets are sticking with the same lineup as Monday, despite managing just two runs – including one unearned run – on six hits. Out of the cleanup spot, Michael Cuddyer was 2-for-4 in Monday's game.
