The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the 76ers in Philly tonight, 112-98.
The Sixers started off hot, jumping out to a 35-26 lead after the 1st quarter. The Lakers drew closer in the 2nd, but the Sixes still led 64-61 at half. It was the second half where everything started to unravel for the Sixers. The Sixers’ big men got beat repeatedly down low in the second half, and Steve Blake and Steve Nash seemed to penetrate the paint with no trouble at all.
Chris Kaman was a huge problem for Spencer Hawes down the stretch, he finished with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks off the bench. Steve Nash had a nice night back, finishing with 19 points and 5 assists.
For the Sixers, they just could not create enough stops on the defensive end to get the win tonight. Tony Wroten led the team with 16 points off the bench, including another improbable ¾ -court heave at the end of the third quarter, his second game in a row doing so.
Spencer Hawes did all he could in the paint tonight, but he just didn’t receive enough help to contain the Lakers’ big men. He finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
The Sixers will be in L.A. Sunday to face the Clippers at 9:30 p.m. Eastern time.
