Sometimes when there is smoke, there is fire. Today there has been a lot of fire between the Phillies and the Houston Astros centered around closer Ken Giles. It sounds like the smoke has given to some heat, reports Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly.
Salisbury tweeted the following around 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time:
Hearing talks between Phillies and Astros on Ken Giles are heating up.

If the teams have come this far, they probably are close enough to get something done.
The Winter Meetings end tomorrow morning, and tomorrow the Phillies will be involved in the Rule 5 draft. If the Phillies are going to make a trade at the Winter Meetings. If they do, that would have to happen soon.
