Gostisbehere, Giroux, Bellemare added to World Cup rosters

Earlier this season, the Flyers had five players named to their respective teams in the World Cup of Hockey when preliminary rosters were announced.

Now three more will be joining them.

Shayne Gostisbehere was selected to Team North America — the 23-and-under team from USA and Canada — Claude Giroux will be joining Team Canada and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare joins Team Europe.

Gostisbehere, recently named a finalist for the Calder Trophy, scored 17 goals and added 29 assists for 46 points in 64 games.

Giroux finished the season with 22 goals and 67 points in 78 games, leading the team in points. Bellemare had seven goals and seven assists in 74 games this season.

Jake Voracek, Michal Neuvirth and Radko Gudas were all selected to play for Team Czech Republic while Mark Streit is also a participant for Team Europe and Sean Couturier is a member of Team North America.

Preliminary rosters were announced on March 2 and final rosters needed to be announced by June 1.

The World Cup of Hockey begins on Sept. 17 and will run until Oct. 1. All games will be played at Toronto's Air Canada Centre and televised on ESPN.
