Gov. Chris Christie disses Phillies on New York sports show

Gov. Chris Christie is already held in low regard to most Philadelphia sports fans - over the years, the Cowboys-loving New Jersey Governor has made it a point to show how much he dislikes the Philadelphia Eagles. In fact, many Eagles fans should remember seeing Christie at Cowboys games with Jerry Jones during the playoffs over the past few years.

On Wednesday night, Christie took things a step further with Philadelphia fans, now going after the Phillies and their fans. Christie had this to say on SportsNet New York's Baseball Night:

"The Phillies suck," Christie said. "Let's just start with that. They're from Philadelphia. They're an awful team. They're an angry, bitter fan base and it's not safe for civilized people to go to Citizens Bank Park if you want to root for the other team.”

Reportedly, Gov. Christie is and has been a New York Mets fan since the 1960s. While the Mets have made it to the playoffs the past two years, and even going to the World Series in 2015, they ultimately lost at the hands of the Kansas City Royals, and their last World Series championship victory was back in 1986.

The Phillies, sure to respond, subtweeted Christie earlier today:
