While the Phillies were in Texas, Cole Hamels continued his injury recovery in Clearwater. Yesterday, he threw 44 pitches in a minor league outing for Class 'A' Lakewood against Advanced 'A' Clearwater.
This was Cole's first game action of the year after experiencing shoulder issues that caused him to delay his season. He threw 44 pitches, 29 for strikes. Hamels gave up two hits, one run, struck out three and walked two.
Pitching in a simulated-game format, Hamels got three outs in his first inning, two outs in his second and five outs in his third inning.
Hamels is likely to see time in three to five more minor league games before returning to the Phillies.
