PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia Phillies (40-46) starter RHP Jeremy Hellickson continued to show his value in Wednesday's series finale matinee against the National League-worst Atlanta Braves (28-57).

Thanks to a late, two-run blast by shortstop Freddy Galvis with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Phillies secured their fourth series sweep of the season and their eighth victory over their last nine games.

Hellickson retired the first seven batters he faced. He loaded the bases with two outs in the third, however, and walked first baseman Freddie Freeman to score the game's first run.

The game would remain 1-0 in favor of Braves until the bottom of the fifth. Former Phillies outfielder Jeff Francoeur recorded his fifth outfield assist of the season and the 131st of his career, throwing shortstop Freddy Galvis out at home when trying to score from second on a single by second baseman Cesar Hernandez to left.

The inning did not go for naught for the Phillies offense, however, as two batters later against left-handed reliever Ian Krol, All-Star center fielder Odubel Herrera hit a game-tying RBI double down the left field line, his 10th two-bagger of the season.

The Braves and Phillies exchanged runs in the sixth on a RBI double and home run by third basemen Adonis Garcia and Maikel Franco, respectively. Franco's home run off of RHP Chris Withrow was his 17th of the season and his fourth in as many games.

Two innings later in the eighth, Garcia hit another go-ahead RBI double to give the Braves a 3-2 lead. In the latter-half, Braves closer RHP Arodys Vizcaino entered for a six-out save attempt. The first two Phillies batters — Franco and catcher Carlos Ruiz — walked and singled to left, respectively.

Despite first baseman Tommy Joseph grounding into a double play, Galvis delivered with a two-out, go-ahead blast to right field to give the Phillies a 4-3 lead. Closer Jeanmar Gomez threw a 1-2-3 ninth on just 10 pitches, recording his 23rd save of the season out of 25 opportunities.

Making his first career start and fifth career appearance overall, Braves RHP Tyrell Jenkins threw 4 2/3 innings of one-run baseball, allowing four hits and one walk on 64 pitches.

Tossing six innings in the series finale, Hellickson finished the afternoon allowing just two runs (one earned). He has allowed one earned run over six innings in each of his last three starts.

The Phillies will begin their final series before the All-Star break Thursday night against RHP Chad Bettis and the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. Southpaw Adam Morgan, who has lost his last six decisions, will take the mound for the 12th time of the season in a spot start in place of resting RHP Aaron Nola.
