Wood, 20, has impressed during Summer League play, averaging 15.8 points on 56.2 percent shooting to go along with 5.7 rebounds per game for Philadelphia. Even though he had played well, Richaun Holmes was likely going to get a roster spot over Wood.
Last September, the Sixers signed Wood to a four-year deal with $50,000 in guaranteed money, but he was waived to make room for Elton Brand on the roster. He signed two 10-day contracts with the team during the remainder of the year, when JaKarr Sampson was moved and Sonny Weems was waived.
In 17 NBA games, all with Philadelphia, Wood has averaged 3.6 points and 2.2 rebounds.
