Congratulations to Philadelphia native, St. Patrick High School Academy (Elizabeth, NJ) and University of Kentucky alumnus, and Charlotte Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who got engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Destiny, Friday evening in Manhattan, New York.
Kidd-Gilchrist's mother, Cynthia, posted the following congratulatory message to the newly engaged couple on Facebook:
"The future Mr & Mrs Michael Anthony Edward Kidd-Gilchrist…One of the most Happiest days of my life. We are happy our son is happy and Destiny is his Destiny ❤️"
Kidd-Gilchrist, 25, is in his seventh NBA season, all spent in Charlotte with the Bobcats (until the 2013-14 season) and Hornets. This season — his first coming off the bench — the No. 2 overall pick of the 2012 NBA Draft is averaging 20 minutes, 3.3 field goals, 5.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 8.6 points per game.
The Hornets will play the Knicks Sunday evening in New York.
