Final: Phillies 2, Orioles 1

Philadelphia, PA -On a day of offensive futility that the 2015 Phillies have come to symbolize, the Phils managed just five hits against O's starter Bud Norris' astronomical ERA. But it was Ryan Howard's two-run homer in the sixth, the saving grace of one of their worst offensive showings of the week, that proved to be the only thing necessary to snap a nine-game skid with a 2-1 win over the Orioles this afternoon.
The game appeared to be headed toward a bad start when in the top of the first, Manny Machado led off the game with a solo shot to right, just five pitches in for starter Sean O'Sullivan. O'Sullivan allowed just three more hits in five innings of work, keeping the Orioles to the single run.
His counterpart, Bud Norris, kept the futile Phillies offense at bay until the sixth inning. Ben Revere led off the bottom half of the frame with an infield single, proceeding to steal second base with one out. Ryan Howard provided the only two Phils runs of the day with a two-run shot to right center, putting the Phillies ahead 2-1, a lead they would never relinquish.
The Orioles threatened in the seventh, when Chase Utley committed a throwing error on what would have been a simple double play. With Jimmy Paredes on first and David Lough on third, reliever Luis Garcia struck out both Manny Machado and Travis Snider to end the inning.
Ken Giles pitched a scoreless eighth and Jonathan Papelbon a perfect ninth, finally giving the Phillies a win, their first since June 7 against the Giants.
Finished with their home-and-home against the Orioles, the Phils take on the Cardinals, who hold the best record in baseball. Phillippe Aumont replaces Cole Hamels tomorrow against Cards lefty Tyler Lyons at 7:05.
