We are passing along some injury updates this Thursday afternoon. We mentioned yesterday that both John Lannan and Domonic Brown suffered injury's in last night's Cincinnati Reds blowout against the Phillies. It appears that one player is better than originally expected; the other is worse than expected.
John Lannan – Headed to the Disabled List
According to many sources, Phillies started John Lannan's injury was worse that it originally appeared. According to Ryan Lawrence of the Daily News, Lannan is headed to the disabled list:
John Lannan has been placed on the 15-day DL with strained quadriceps tendon in left knee. Corresponding move coming Friday. #Phillies

The Inquirer's Matt Gelb says that the Phillies will add a reliever for now, then a starter later. This is significant for a couple reasons:
1. The reliever who is added may stay. If the reliever is say, Justin De Fratus, he could remain with the team and another reliever be optioned. The only optionable relievers on the roster are Jeremy Horst and Phillippe Aumont. Horst, who has pitched in every Phillies loss (no coincidence) could try to work out his kinks. De Fratus has been pitching well at AAA thus far and may stick around. Michael Stutes and Jake Diekman have had rocky starts thus far. Just today Stutes gave up four earned runs in an inning's work. Joe Savery has yet to be scored upon, but the Phillies likely won't add another lefty to a bullpen with three.
2. The Phillies have starters B.J. Rosenberg, Jonathan Pettibone and Tyler Cloyd on the 40-man roster and may stick to that. Adam Morgan is the Lehigh Valley starter pitching best, but he pitched today and threw 100 pitches against the Pawtucket Red Sox. The Phillies do not have a day off in sight, so he is likely not the starter coming up. Of the three the ERAs are alarming: Rosenberg at 6.00, Cloyd at 7.07, and Pettibone at 9.64. Ethan Martin has a 4.62 ERA, should the Phillies look to add Martin. A 40-man roster spot is not going to be hard; former catching prospect Sebastian Valle has most recently seen playing left field at AA. He should be easy to outright to the minors.
Domonic Brown – Day to day
Brown has tonight off; he will be spelled in left field by Freddy Galvis, who is swinging a hot bat. The Phillies only real option to replace Brown is Darin Ruf, whose glove they would like to develop in the minors first. Brown has the night off, but may be back in the lineup tomorrow.
