Jahlil Okafor's off-court issues seem liked they happened a while ago, but one of them just got resolved it seems. According to Michael Boren of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Okafor will have to pay a $439 fine, but will not be required to complete community service.
A Camden County judge ruled Thursday that an initial plea deal offered to Philadelphia 76ers player Jahlil Okafor is valid, meaning Okafor will pay a $439 fine for speeding on the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, but not be required to do community service, Okafor's attorney said.
Lawyer Andrew Smith said that Okafor already previously paid the fee for the charges, but that the check was not accepted because Camden city's law office decided it wanted to vacate the plea agreement. Smith said he believed this was so community service could be added to Okafor's punishment.
Okafor was driving 108mph over the Ben Franklin Bridge back on October 19th, 2015. The bridge speed limit is 45mph. In November, Okafor's lawyer said that the rookie center agreed to a plea agreement in November, to which he pleaded guilty to a charge of driving at an excessive rate of speed.
