Jahlil Okafor has not played since injuring his shin on February 28th against the Magic and there's thought that he may not suit up again this season. Last night, the Sixers had their Youth Gala at the Palestra in Philadelphia and Brett Brown was mum on the future of Okafor this season. The Sixers got the CT scan back on Okafor's knee on Thursday, but are going over every detail before revealing anything about the rookies' remaining season.
“We don’t know everything,” Brown said. “When we don’t know everything, that’s enough for us to realize that we’ve got to just hold things right now close to our chest so that we can just figure it out. Right now, that’s what we’ve decided to do.” [CSNPhilly.com]
Okafor, 20, is averaging 17.5 points and seven rebounds per game this season for the Sixers. In addition to his shin injury, Okafor has had some soreness in his knee, unrelated, that caused him to miss a pair of games in December. With the Sixers always being cautious about the health of their players, Brett Brown addressed the possibility of Okafor missing the rest of the season.
“Anything’s on the table,” Brown said. “We’re not in a position to acknowledge that. As I said, it’s all up for us to review and what’s best for Jahlil. But I feel like tomorrow we’ll be in a far better position to give more information than I’m able to tonight.” [CSNPhilly.com]
The Sixers sqaure off against the Nets tonight at 7pm. Brooklyn is the last team that Philadelphia has won against this season, all the way back on February 6th by a score of 103-98. Jahlil Okafor scored 22 points and grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds in that matchup.
