What does a 5.70 ERA at AAA get you?  It appears a promotion to the major leagues.   The Phillies today optioned starting pitcher Tyler Cloyd to AAA Lehigh Valley and promoted left-handed reliever Jake Diekman.  Diekman had been the closer at AAA.  The move is to make room for starting pitcher John Lannan, who will make his first start off of the disabled list on Monday in Philadelphia against the Washington Nationals.

Cloyd was decent enough for the Phillies, going 2-2 with a 3.41 ERA.  In his last start Cloyd's issue was not giving up runs, but rather that he lasted only five innings, throwing 99 pitches.

Upon Lannan's return the Phillies will make another roster move; the move temporarily gives the team an eight-man bullpen for this weekend's three-game series in Denver against the Colorado Rockies.
