One of the biggest upgrades the Philadelphia Eagles made prior to their Super Bowl championship season was to their wide receiving corps. They dealt Jordan Matthews to Buffalo and signed Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith. It didn't hurt that Nelson Agholor had a breakout season either. Jeffery caught nine touchdowns during the regular season, his most since the 2014-15 season when he had 10. The 28-year-old hauled in two touchdowns against the Vikings in the NFC Championship game before scoring one against the Patriots in the Super Bowl for the Eagles' first touchdown of the game.
There are a ton of great underdog stories from the season, but Jeffery was one guy who was never mentioned as one. At least not in Jason Kelce's speech. Well he should be added in there now. The wideout showed why he should still be considered a No. 1 receiver in the NFL and apparently he was playing all season with a torn rotator cuff. He had surgery to repair it on Wednesday.
#Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery had successful surgery this morning on a torn rotator cuff, sources say. He suffered it in training camp and played through it, somehow, on the way to a Super Bowl.

In training camp? Sheesh. What a warrior.
The Eagles and Jeffery agreed on a four-year, $52 million extension back in December and hopefully this season was just a preview of what's to come from Alshon in Philadelphia.
It's crazy to think that Carson Wentz threw his final touchdown pass of the year on a torn ACL and LCL to Jeffery and his torn rotator cuff. This team just keeps surprising us.
