Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin appears to be taking the next step in his rehab from a torn ACL suffered in training camp, after a video was posted Monday of him sprinting at the Novacare Complex.
Jeremy Maclin it appears has taken another significant step in recovering from his ACL tear suffered during training camp last summer.
In a video posted on the 25-year old's Instagram account, Maclin is seen running sprints on the indoor practice field at the Novacare Complex.
While it's difficult to discern exactly how far away Maclin is from participating in football activities, it is an encouraging sign to see him running six months following his knee being surgically repaired.
The Eagles first round draft choice in the 2009 draft, chosen 19th overall, is scheduled to be a free agent when the NFL's league year opens on March 11.
Both Maclin and the team had high hopes for a strong campaign under Chip Kelly in 2013, which is in part the reason why the fourth-year receiver did not hold out prior to training camp which ultimately wound up being a costly decision. Maclin had hoped that a strong season in Kelly's high octane offense would hold the key to a lucrative long-term contract extension.
That did not happen of course.
Heading into this offseason, the Eagles have some difficult decisions to make at the receiver position.
Both Maclin and Riley Cooper are free agents and with a draft class that seems on paper to be loaded at the position, the league's second-ranked offense will have plenty of options to further bolster the position.
For his part, Maclin has already gone on the record saying that he would accept a one-year deal to return to Philadelphia.
