Jesse Biddle's first start in Lehigh Valley with the Ironpigs wasn't good. In just 2 2/3 innings, Biddle allowed seven runs on five hits, walking six while registering just one punch-out. His most recent start, a big rebound in many ways, was good enough to earn him International League Pitcher of the Week honors.

Biddle pitched seven shutout innings against the first-place Rochester Red Wings (Triple 'A' Twins affiliate) in Lehigh Valley's 1-0 win on Friday night. He allowed just three hits, all singles, walked only one and struck out seven. Biddle retired 13 of the final 15 batters that he faced. Command has been an issue for Biddle throughout his career, but in 11 of his 18 starts this season, he's walked two batters or less. In his latest outing, he threw 61 of his 100 pitches for strikes.
Biddle, 23, was a once highly regarded prospect in the Phillies organization and still is valued that way by some. The 2010 first round pick has had some pressure taken off of him this year thanks to the Phillies dealing for Zach Eflin, Ben Lively and Tom Windle combined with last year's top pick, Aaron Nola.
Biddle's next start will be at home on Wednesday, July 22nd at 7:05pm against Toledo, Triple 'A' affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.
