Joe Blanton has been placed on the disabled list with a right medial impingement of the elbow. Vance Worley (2-2, 2.78 ERA in four starts in Lehigh Valley) has been called up and will start on Friday against the New York Mets in his place.
What the hell!?
Update 8:52 P.M.: From Matt Gelb : GM Amaro says "Blanton's MRI was encouraging" No damage, but the Phillies will shut him down. He has felt discomfort in his throwing arm for a few starts.
