The NBA has decided to fine Sixers' center Joel Embiid for inappropriate comments he made in a video on his Instagram account.
The comments came during an Instagram live session in which Embiid said "F— Lavar Ball," the father of Lakers' point guard and rookie of the year favorite Lonzo Ball. Lavar has built a reputation for being outspoken, and has made comments towards the Sixers and Embiid on more than one occasion.
The Embiid-Lavar battle began when Embiid tweeted this during the NBA Draft following Lavar being interviewed live on the broadcast:
Please dunk on him so hard that his daddy runs on the court to save him.. https://t.co/cMvt5RYiSQ
— Joel Embiid (@JoelEmbiid) June 22, 2017
Ball then responded on 97.5 fanatic, arguing that the Sixers and their players have no right to criticize anybody due to the team's lack of success over the past few seasons.
Embiid followed those comments with the comment on the video that has earned him a fine.
Lavar has responded, after TMZ Sports caught up with him earlier this week, bringing Embiid's intelligence and health into question.
Embiid has been fined $10,000 after it was announced by Kiki VanDerWeghe. VanDerWeghe is the Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations for the NBA.
