The accolades continue to pour in, as Sixers' Joel Embiid was officially named as one of the NBA's best players on Thursday, a well-deserved selection to the All-NBA Second Team. Embiid was named to the NBA's All-Defensive Second Team on Wednesday.
All-NBA teams:
First: LeBron James, James Harden, Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Kevin Durant.
Second: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Russell Westbrook, Joel Embiid, LaMarcus Aldridge, DeMar DeRozan.
Third: Stephen Curry, Victor Oladipo, Karl-Anthony Towns, Jimmy Butler, Paul George.

Embiid joins Bucks SF Giannis Antetokounmpo, Thunder PG Russell Westbrook, Spurs PF LaMarcus Aldridge, and Raptors SG DeMar DeRozan as the other members of the second team.
Embiid received 78 second place votes and 11 first place votes. The Sixers center had one heck of a sophomore season, with two end of the season accolades in addition to his All-Star selection earlier in the season. He averaged 22.9 points, 11 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in 30 minutes per game this season. He also played in 63 games, well above what most were expecting out of him.
Interestingly enough, Sixers rookie point guard Ben Simmons, a finalist for Rookie of the Year, received 36 votes for an All-NBA selection, more than Al Horford (32), Nikola Jokic (28), Draymond Green (6), and Klay Thompson (2) received.
Simmons also got more votes than fellow Rookie of the Year finalist Donovan Mitchell (2).
For those wondering, Joel Embiid needed to either A) Win MVP or B) Get First-Team All-NBA in order for his contract to invoke a supermax extension.
Barring something completely unexpected (MVP), this means no supermax for Embiid. 2018-19 salary will start at 25% of the cap, or ~$25.25 million.
(Also, congrats to Embiid for earning 2nd team All-NBA). https://t.co/51sSHdnPUG
