Joel Embiid is beginning to ramp up his conditioning after suffering an orbital fracture on March 28 against the Knicks. Last week, he underwent a follow-up exam to address the injury, and doctors were pleased with his recovery, but no timetable for return was established. Embiid passed a concussion test by an independent neurologist, but still must pass the NBA concussion protocol test before being cleared to return.
On Instagram last night, Embiid gave us a preview of the mask he'll wear when he does come back (pictured above).
Head coach Brett Brown told reporters prior to Tuesday's game in Atlanta that he doesn't expect Embiid to return in time for game one of the playoffs in Philadelphia on Saturday night.
In 63 games for the Sixers this season, Embiid is averaging 22.9 points, 11 rebounds and 1.8 blocks.
