Jonathan Pettibone Takes On Former Phillies Pitcher Kyle Lohse As Phillies Look To .500

Jonathanpettibone

Having a .500 and winning record was fun while it lasted.  The Phillies hope to return to the previously-elusive .500 mark today as they end their four-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers.  The Phillies are guaranteed to have a losing record on the year with the lowly Brewers, but can earn a split in today's series with a win.

Jonathan Pettibone is on the hill for the Phillies today.  Pettibone is 3-1 with a 3.40 ERA.   He is opposed by Kyle Lohse, who is not having a good year after waiting through most of Spring Training in free agency.  Lohse is 1-6 with a 4.89 ERA.

Steven Lerud will be in uniform today to back up Humberto Quintero after Erik Kratz hurt his knee in last night's loss the Brewers.  Kratz will have an MRI later to figure out just what went wrong, though many expect it to be a serious injury.

Game Notes:

  • Ben Revere returns to the lineup after having some time out of the starting lineup.
  • John Mayberry will get a day off as his hot streak came to an end last night.
  • Delmon Young is also on the bench today, as management may have finally figured out that any ball hit to right field is a triple.
  • Domonic Brown hit his league-leading 19th home run last night.  He is one behind Chris Davis for the lead in Major League Baseball.  His batting average creeps toward .300, and is currently sits at .293.
  • Ryan Howard is back in the lineup today after resting his sore knee last night against the Brewers bullpen.
