The Phillies have announced that Jonathan Pettibone will start Saturday's game against the Marlins. Pettibone was shut down last August after experiencing some rotator cuff issues.
He also was inactive for much of spring training because of a recurrence of shoulder pain. The Phillies other options were Jeff Manship and David Buchanon. Manship pitched in Wednesday night's game against Milwaukee while Buchanon threw 93 pitches in a start for Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.
The 23-year old Pettibone pitched five innings on Sunday afternoon for Lehigh Valley, allowing three runs on four hits with two strikeouts and one walk. He went 5-4 with a 4.04 ERA in 18 starts with the Phillies last season.
