While the selection of Carson Wentz lead many to believe that Sam Bradford's days in Philadelphia are over, one of his teammates still believes he is the guys to lead the team. Wide receiver Jordan Matthews, who has vocalized his support for Bradford all of last season, caught up with John Clark of CSN Philly to talk about Sam's situation and how each person approaches situations differently. Matthews mentioned that he along with some other teammates have been able to reach out to the quarterback, who has reportedly requested a trade on numerous occasions.
"A couple of us have been able to. But at the same time we understand Sam is Sam. The way everybody else deals with things may not be the same way he does. Sam's a very private person. He's going to do things on his time and certain people do certain things on other people's time. It's just the way it is, so you gotta just understand that he's not you and he's gonna figure out what he wants to do. None of us can pull his arm and make him do something on his time and what he wants to do. So you’ve just got to respect that and at the end of the day we know we want him here. We’ll just continue to reach out and whenever that time comes, we can get it rolling."
One of the guys that has reportedly spoken to Bradford is Connor Barwin. According to a tweet from John Clark, Barwin told Sports Radio WIP that he expects Sam to be back at workouts in the next week or two.

Meanwhile, although the Eagles signed Bradford to a two-year deal, Matthews believes that nothing is set in stone when it comes to this league. Whether you're on a one-year deal or a four-year deal, if you don't perform you could be gone pretty quickly.
"At the end of the day, all of us are on one year contracts. It's sometimes a running joke, but it's the reality of it. If you don't go out there and get the job done, you could be gone tomorrow. It's not like a four-year scholarship in college, so the way we look at it is, we just gotta go out and play. All the different storylines, all those things, they don't mean anything as long as we go out and play well for this city. That's the end all be all, go out and win, so we know there's things going on right now, but at the same time when we go into the building, our focus is going in, playing hard and winning."
Despite the ongoing talks of Bradford requesting a trade following the selection of Wentz, Matthews believes that Sam is the best option the Eagles have on the roster and that his entire team believes it too.
"Everybody believes in him," Matthews said. "Sam is the guy for the job. He’s the best quarterback that we have on the roster. He’s the guy. That’s why we signed him back. You wouldn’t do that unless you really had confidence in the guy. There are a lot of quarterbacks who are in situations where they didn’t know if they were going to sign back with teams, but we got that done early."
Bradford completed 65 percent of his passes last season for 3,725 yards, 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He signed a new two-year contract with the Eagles prior to the team trading up in the draft to pluck North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz.
