In the two games since re-signing with the Eagles, veteran receiver Jordan Matthews had just four catches for 33 yards.
On Sunday against Seattle, newly promoted Greg Ward caught six passes for 40 yards.
On Monday, the Eagles announced that they had released the veteran receiver.

The move likely comes with Nelson Agholor and Alshon Jeffery likely to return from injury and, after a solid game, a fear that another team might claim Ward were he waived.
The move leaves a spot on the 53-man roster and another on the practice squad open.
The most likely scenarios would see the Eagles signing a secondary player to take Rudy Ford’s spot, an offensive lineman, if the team expects to be without Lane Johnson or Brandon Brooks for an extended time, or possibly a running back if they don’t think Jordan Howard will return soon.
There is also a possibility that Cre’Von LeBlanc could be ready to return and the Eagles would need a spot for him.
