Julio Jones Announces Retirement from the NFL

Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Julio Jones announced his retirement from the National Football League after 13 seasons. The veteran wide out made the announcement via social media on Friday afternoon.

Jones, 36, spent part of the 2023-24 regular season with the Birds. The seven-time NFL Pro Bowl selection played in 11-games including four starts during the disastrous season which saw the Eagles lose six of their final seven games. A midseason acquisition, Jones hauled in 11 receptions for 74-yards and three touchdowns in his only year in Philadelphia.

A generational talent, Jones was the sixth overall pick by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2011 NFL Draft. The Alabama product spent 10-seasons in the ATL where he hauled in 848 receptions for 12,896 yards, 60 touchdowns. In addition to his seven NFL Pro Bowl selections, Jones earned First Team All-Pro honors in 2015 and 2016, respectively. Jones was traded from Atlanta to Tennessee prior to the 2021-22 NFL regular season. Jones played one season with the Titans and one season with Tampa Bay before closing out his NFL career with Birds.
