One of the biggest questions on the Flyers blue line for next season was Kimmo Timonen. Would the 39-year-old defenseman lace up his skates for the Flyers one more time.
Timonen signed a one-year contract extension on Friday, returning to the Flyers for the 2014-15 season, his eighth with the team.
Timonen scored six goals and added 29 assists while being a durable part of the blue line, playing in 77 games. In his Flyers career, he had recorded 270 points, including 232 assists, both of which rank third all-time for Flyers defensemen.
The Flyers defenseman and assistant captain has also been the Barry Ashbee Award recipient in five of his eight seasons with the team, including last season.
Timonen was also a member of the bronze-medal winning Finnish Olympic team in 2014.
