CLEARWATER, Fla. — Thanks to a six-run, sixth-inning rally—led by a three-run home run by designated hitter Andrew Knapp—Gloucester Catholic High School alumnus Greg Burke earned his first victory of the spring as the Philadelphia Phillies (3-3-1) edged the New York Yankees (2-3) Sunday afternoon at Bright House Field.

Heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, the only produced run for either side was a RBI-single by second baseman Starlin Castro in the top of the third inning. The Phillies' hitters managed just five base runners up to this point, with Yankees' starter Masahiro Tanaka allowing three of them—two hits and a walk—over the first two frames.

Then, the Phillies' offense came alive.

Shortstop Freddy Galvis and center fielder Odubel Herrera hit back-to-back singles, followed by a walk by third baseman Maikel Franco to load the bases with nobody out.

Non-roster invitee first baseman Brock Stassi followed with a sacrifice fly-RBI to even the contest at one. Later, two additional non-roster invitees left fielder Cedric Hunter and right fielder David Lough flied into a sacrifice fly and singled on a line drive to center field, respectively, to drive in two additional runs and give the Phillies a 3-1 advantage.

The next batter, switch-hitting designated hitter Andrew Knapp blew the game open with a three-run home run to right center field—his first of the spring—to put the Phillies on top, 6-1.

The Yankees rallied back to within one run, producing a pair of runs in the top of the seventh and eight innings against non-roster invitee right-handers Greg Burke and Ernesto Frieri, however they failed to complete the full comeback with right-hander Jeanmar Gomez shutting the door in the ninth.
