A chilly day in Dundedin, Florida brought about a few not-so-chilly bats from both the Phillies and the Blue Jays.
R.A. Dickey started today's game for Toronto. In the first inning, the Phillies brought three across the plate, taking an early lead. Michael Young collected an RBI double scoring Frandsen, and Ryan Howard followed with a tw0-run homer to left field.
Cliff Lee didn't have it any easier in his half of the first. Jose Reyes scored on a double from Melky Cabrera to put the Jays on the board, then Edwin Encarnacion singled to bring home Cabrera. 3-2 Phils.
Emilio Bonifacio tied the game up at three a piece in the bottom of the third with a solo homer to left field.
After three innings, Cliff Lee was taken out for Tyler Cloyd. Lee's line: 3 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 3 K.
In the top of the fourth, Carlos Ruiz gave his team a 4-3 lead with a solo homer shot to left field.
The Jays went to work against Cloyd in their half of the fourth. After Adam Lind scored on a double from Bonifacio, Jose Reyes had two men on base for his home run to right field. 7-4 Jays. In the fifth, Moises Sierra doubled to bring home Ryan Schimpf, and Sierra scored later on a single from Jim Negrych. 9-4 Toronto.
In the bottom of the sixth, Josh Thole singled to bring home Luis Jimenez, making it a 10-4 ballgame. Michael Stutes was charged with one run on two hits.
Justin Friend came in for the seventh inning and allowed one run on two hits. The run was the result of a groundout from Ryan Goins. 11-4 Jays.
Erik Kratz added two runs to the board for the Phils in the top of the ninth. With Jermaine Mitchell on base, Kratz launched a home run to left field. 11-6 was the final score.
The Blue Jays will visit the Phillies tomorrow in Clearwater at 1:05.
