The Phillies snapped their three-game losing streak last night as they beat out the Brewers in the series opener, 3-2. With their first win since Thursday, it was just the Phils' fouth win in their last 15 games. Cole Hamels nabbed his first W since June 6th with six innings of one-run ball that was backed by the bat of All-Star Chase Utley, who went 2-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI.

Tonight, Kyle Kendrick (3-8, 4.12 ERA) will take on Wily Peralta (9-5, 3.35 ERA) in game two as the Phillies look to gain a two-game to none lead in this series.

Kyle Kendrick pitched a winning pitcher's game his last time out, but instead he got the no-decision. Although his team won in extra innings against the Marlins on Thursday, KK proved to be a big factor in helping them do so. Kendrick went seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits as well as a walk that was outnumbered by four strike outs. Kendrick has struggled this year with early runs, allowing 16 earned runs in 17 first innings. Looking for improvement himself as well as improve his team against the Brewers, a team Kendrick is 1-5 against lifetime.

Wily Peralta has gone in the complete opposite direction that he was headed in the beginning of the season. In his first 10 starts, Peralta owned a 2.12 ERA – in his last seven he has a 5.15 ERA but owns a 5-1 record. Peralta allowed four runs on nine hits through six while striking out four and walking three in his last start against the Blue Jays on Wednesday. Coming off of a no-decision in his last outing, Peralta will look for his 10th win of the season against the Phils. In his career against them, Peralta is 1-1 with a 5.25 ERA.
