LeSean McCoy Confident Heading Into Showdown With Denver Broncos

McCoyPhiladelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy figures to be a crucial element of Chip Kelly's gameplan to counteract Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.

LeSean McCoy may not be a betting man, but if he were he'd be throwing money down on himself and his teammates this weekend in their showdown with Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos

"If I was a betting man, I'd take the Broncos," McCoy joked when asked by a reporter about what it's like being a heavy underdog this weekend. "I am 1-0 against Peyton Manning, I am."

McCoy and his Philadelphia Eagles teammates last squared off with Manning in 2010 when the Birds trumped the Colts 26-24 at Lincoln Financial Field in a game that saw the NFL's leading rusher post a 95-yard performance.

Sunday at 4:25 in Sports Authority Field promises to be a showdown between two blistering offenses that figure to keep the scoreboard operator working overtime. Chip Kelly's high octane attack is averaging 461.67 yards and 26.3 points per game through the first three weeks. Meanwhile Manning helms the league's leading offense and has the Broncos firing on all cylinders to the tune of 486.7 yards and 42.3 points per game

If the Eagles are to have any chance at inching closer to .500 with a win Sunday afternoon, the offense will need to dominate the time of possession and keep Manning and company on the sidelines as much as possible.

That is where McCoy enters into the equation.

“We can’t worry about that,” said McCoy of Denver receiving all the hype. “I have a lot of confidence in our offense. [The Broncos] will put points up — and I have tons of confidence in the defense — and I think we’ll put points up.”

So far this season McCoy has emerged as a clear focal point in Kelly's multi-faceted attack. The 25-year old University of Pittsburgh product leads the league with 395 yards and two touchdowns this season.

After spraining his ankle Thursday night against the Kansas City Chiefs, McCoy returned to practice with his teammates Tuesday and appears all systems go.
