LeSean McCoy, buoyed by a 200-yard performance against the Lions has been named NFC Offensive Player of The Month.
The accolades continue to pour in for Eagles running back LeSean McCoy who was named the NFC Offensive Player of The Month for December onThursday.
McCoy finished the season as the league's rushing champion after totalling 1,607 yards and nine touchdowns.
In December, McCoy carried the Eagles on his back in a stretch run of a season that ended with the team's first NFC East championship since 2010 in advance of a home playoff game against the New Orleans Saints on Saturday night at Lincoln Financial Field.
McCoy surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark in three of five games in the month of December including a season high outburst of 217 against the Lions to go with two touchdowns in blizzard conditions, setting both a personal and franchise single game record.
During the five game stretch in December, McCoy had 101 attempts for 598 yards and four touchdowns. He also had 18 receptions for 140 yards and a touchdown, bringing his total to five touchdowns in December.
McCoy is the Eagles first running back to ever win the award.
Nick Foles earned the award in November, meaning the Eagles pair of teammates not only are the first pair in league history to finish as the league's leading rusher and most efficient passer, but that that Philadelphia swept this award for the past two months.
As the Eagles approach the post-season, all signs point to McCoy's strong season carrying into the post-season as well.
“I think (a running back can be clutch),” McCoy said. “The more touches, the more plays you run the ball, the more comfortable you get. You can see how the defense adjusts and feel them out.
