During the 90s, a group of players gave the Flyers new life. They built a championship contender that just kept falling short. But playoff runs were a regular thing back then.
The Flyers announced on Thursday that three members of that group would have their names listed in the Flyers Hall of Fame. Eric Lindros, John LeClair and Eric Desjardins will join the group of hallowed Flyers during the 2014-15 season.
Lindros was a Flyer from 1992 to 2000, playing in 486 games. He scored 290 goals and added 369 assists for 659 points. In 1995, he was the Hart Trophy winner as the league's MVP. He was the Flyers captain through most of his Flyers career, leading the team to a Stanley Cup Final appearance in 1997 and Conference Final appearances in 1995 and 2000.
LeClair played in Philadelphia from 1994 to 2004. Acquired from the Montreal Canadiens during the 1994-95 season, LeClair spent parts of 10 seasons with the Flyers, scoring 333 goals and adding 310 assists for 643 total points. LeClair was a linemate of Lindros on the Legion of Doom and played a role in an additional Stanley Cup run that fell short in the Conference Final in 2004.
Desjardins was part of the trade from Montreal with LeClair in 1994 and played with the Flyers until he retired following the 2005-06 season. He scored 9s goals and added 303 assists for 396 points in his 11-year career with the Flyers. Desjardins was part of the same playoff runs as LeClair and served as Flyers captain after Lindros was traded to the New York Rangers in 2000.
Lindros and LeClair will be enshrined together on Nov. 20 when the Flyers face the Minnesota Wild. Desjardins' induction will take place on Feb. 19 when the Flyers host the Buffalo Sabres.
