The worst-kept secret in the Phillies' front office is that they would likely be interested in a Ryan Madson reunion for 2014.  Finally, today, Madson threw for teams today on a one-on-one basis to demonstrate that he is recovered from multiple injuries.  The Phillies were one of them.

CSN Philly's Jim Salisbury did get a confirmation out of Phillies General Manager Ruben Amaro, Jr.:

The Phillies have a number of scouts who live out West. Will they send one of them to watch Madson’s workout?

“I’m sure we will,” general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said.

Amaro admitted that the Phillies have been “keeping an eye” on Madson.

Reports are that Madson did well:

Madson has not thrown a pitch since the 2011 playoffs.  After signing a one-year contract with the Cincinnati Reds for 2012, Madson underwent Tommy John surgery and missed his entire season with the Reds.  Then, Madson signed a one-year deal with his hometown Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for 2013.  Madson threw just one inning in a rehab assignment before injuring himself again and he never threw a pitch for the Angels in the majors, either.
