The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball's Long Island Ducks have signed former Philadelphia Phillies right-handed reliever Colton Murray to replace retiring right-hander Vinnie Pestano, according to a Wednesday afternoon tweet from the team's president and general manager, Michael Pfaff.
Murray, 28, went 1-2 with a 6.18 ERA, 1.525 WHIP and 40-15 strikeout-to-walk ratio through 32 career appearances with the Phillies from 2015-2016.
The Overland Park, Kansas, native made just four appearances with the Miami Marlins Triple-A affiliate this season. In 4 2/3 innings, he allowed 11 runs on 11 hits and two walks.
With the Ducks, Murray is now teammates with many notable former big leaguers, including Francisco Rodriguez and Emilio Bonifacio. Rodriguez appeared in Phillies camp in Clearwater this spring.
