Maikel Franco is the offensive star as Phillies yank Yankees

Final: Phillies 11, Yankees 8

WP: Adam Morgan (1-0, 1.59 ERA) LP: Michael Wacha (9-3, 2.85 ERA)

Bronx, New York City – The Phillies lost 12 in a row on the road.  Would their bad luck end in New York City?

Kevin Correia took the mound for the Phillies but did not give the Phillies what they had been hoping for.  Could the Phillies offense overcome a poor start by Correia?

Maikel Franco was the big story tonight in the Bronx.  Franco went 4 for 5, with two home runs, five RBI and three runs scored.  Franco ended the day batting .312 on the season, and Franco surely will receive some consideration for the All-Star game in Cincinnati, should he keep up this torrid pace.

Every Phillies offensive player had a hit, minus Chase Utley, who went 0 for 4.  Utley did contribute by getting hit by a pitch.

Ben Revere had three hits.  Cesar Hernandez had two hits and two RBI.  Cameron Rupp went two for four, Freddy Galvis went three for five, and Cody Asche went two for four.

The Yankees had a good bit of offense, led by Brett Gardner, who went four for four.  The big hit of the game for the Yankees was a three-run home run from Gardner.

Jonathan Papelbon was a little shaky in the ninth inning.  The Phillies trade candidate had one of his less-successful appearances this season, albeit in a non-save situation.  Papelbon gave up two earned runs in the ninth, bringing his season ERA up to 1.88.
