The Eagles had their third player ever selected as the Walter Payton Man of the Year last season when Chris Long, in what would be his final season, was honored for his commitment to the community.

This season, they hope to have a fourth player selected from the franchise.

On Thursday, the team announced that veteran safety Malcolm Jenkins would be the their nominee this season.

Jenkins is all over the place with his community support, but much of it is done through his own charity, The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation.

According to foundation’s the site, their missionis to, “effectuate positive change in the lives of youth, particularly those in underserved communities. The charity provides resources, innovative opportunities, and experiences that will help youth succeed in life and become contributing members of their communities.”

The site also explains:

“The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation is making an investment in our young people in the four (4) states of NJ, LA, OH and PA in which we have an imprint.

We look forward to building on the momentum created with the guiding mission of Project REWARDS (Reinforcing Education with Activities, Recreation and Developmental Supports).

Together, we can do more. We encourage you to join in our efforts of positively impacting the lives of our young people.”

The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation is just one aspect of Jenkins giving back to the community.

He has had ride-alongs with police officers in an effort to reduce police violence and create a dialogue between the citizens in Philadelphia and their police force.

Jenkins is also a founder of the Players Coalition, which is a group of NFL Players that contribute to social and racial equality as well as prison reform.
